I have a mini? AKC reg. Dachshund, March 25th he'll be 6 months old, he weighs 10lbs 11 oz now, the breeder said the mother was 7 lbs and the father 9 lbs , Thanks for youe help…
A Miniature Dachshund should not exceed 11 pounds fully grown. Between 12 and 16 pounds it is considered a tweenie. Over 16 pounds it is a Standard.
At 6 months you almost have 11 pounds which means your Dachshund will not be a mini but most likely a tweenie since they do not usually reach their adult weight until about a year.
If you did not get the opportunity to see the parents does not mean much because indiscriminate breeders can show you any two dogs and claim parentage.
I am going to say both parents weighed in access of 12 pounds. 7 pounds is very tiny for a mini and 9 pounds is a small mini. So, your dog is going to be bigger than you expected but what difference does it make?
Unless you purchased the dog strictly for the 'smallness' and are not happy, I would certainly talk to the breeder to see if you can return the dog. But I would think by now you already love him.

dogs can continue to grow up until 2 years of age.
Size of parents does not always determine size of offspring.. there may be bigger dogs in the pedigree that influence the size.
I know of a Crested who weighs at least 15 pds, both parents were under 10 pds.

That will depend some on the amount of exercise and the feeding. I have smooth standards. They do their best on a grain free diet. They are more healthy and active than they used to be . They are 5 years.

Most dogs reach growth maturity somewhere between 6 months and a year. Each breed is different though, for example a mastiff isn't fully mature until they're two, and some terrier breeds reach their maturity at about 8 months.
To have a good idea of what the dog will weigh when it's fully grown, average the parent's weights. So, your dog shouldn't get more than 8 pounds. However, sometimes this isn't always accurate since each puppy from a litter can be different than the rest.
*I had a Rat Terrier female who's parents were 25 and 28 pounds but she only grew to 23. She reached her full size at 8 months.

We also have a mini doxie and he is 19lbs. We saw his mom and she weighed 10 lbs. Our dog is now 5 yrs old. We really don't feed him table scraps, but he seems to weigh a little more every time we take him to the Dr. Good luck!

9 dogs and 4 are Dachshunds
One of my dachshunds is finally finished getting long at 21 months old. I am not sure when he stopped growing. The breeder said he was a miniature and his mother was on site and small enough. Buddy is now 20 inches from base of tail to bottom of neck. Big Boy that weighs 18 pounds in summer, a bit more in winter. You may have a tweenie dachshund which is between mini and standard.
