Is it a major problem? Can they be tought not to dig? Where do they like to dig?
I don't have one yet, but I'm thinking of getting one…
I have a mini Dachshund and i encourage him to dig because it makes him happy!! I have a special spot just for him because i know Dachshund love to dig.You could buy a sand pit and fill it with dirt or sand and bary toys and treats so he digs only in the sand pit. That way he doesn't mess up your yard or garden.Another thing to do is fill up all the holes he dug with gravel and then dirt so he doesn't dig there eny more and only digs in the sand pit.

How Do You Handle Your Mini Dachshund's Digging Instinct?
Tuesday, March 24th, 2009How Much Should a 6 Month Old Male Mini Dachshund Weigh?
Monday, March 23rd, 2009ok my dachshund is 6 months old and hes is the fattest dog i think i've ever seen. We have him on the purina diet, and he's almost ten lbs, and still only 6 months. I also have another male that is 9 months, and 6 lbs.
Hi! ![]()
It depends on his parents. Minis weight can vary. Also some Miniature Dachshunds can be bigger and are called 'Tweenies'. Which are between a Miniature and a Standard Dachshund for weight. "Tweenies" are not recognized as a size by the AKC though. Feed him a high quality puppy chow, based on his needs either way.
Mini Dachshund Knows Its Bad to Pee on Floor, but Does It Sometimes and Shows Me?
Friday, March 20th, 2009My mini dachshund is trained to pee on her pad, and she usually pees there 95% of the time. However, sometimes she will pee on the floor somewhere and comes slinking up to me with her tail between her legs, as if to let me know she's done something wrong and she will even put herself in her "time out" room. What gives?
Maybe the dog wants to go on walks and it's her way of telling you
What Age Should a Mini Dachshund Reach His Heaviest Weight?
Saturday, March 14th, 2009I have a mini? AKC reg. Dachshund, March 25th he'll be 6 months old, he weighs 10lbs 11 oz now, the breeder said the mother was 7 lbs and the father 9 lbs , Thanks for youe help…
A Miniature Dachshund should not exceed 11 pounds fully grown. Between 12 and 16 pounds it is considered a tweenie. Over 16 pounds it is a Standard.
At 6 months you almost have 11 pounds which means your Dachshund will not be a mini but most likely a tweenie since they do not usually reach their adult weight until about a year.
If you did not get the opportunity to see the parents does not mean much because indiscriminate breeders can show you any two dogs and claim parentage.
I am going to say both parents weighed in access of 12 pounds. 7 pounds is very tiny for a mini and 9 pounds is a small mini. So, your dog is going to be bigger than you expected but what difference does it make?
Unless you purchased the dog strictly for the 'smallness' and are not happy, I would certainly talk to the breeder to see if you can return the dog. But I would think by now you already love him.
What Is the Best Diapers for a Mini Dachshund?
Thursday, January 22nd, 2009
It's clear to me I should have explained. The diapers are for an older dachshund who has an extra small bladder which is causing problems for her.
She has been to her vet and sees her when needed.
Good grief, I'm glad I own a Shepherd!
If he wasn't housebroken I'd need a 55 gal drum!
